Low Impact Activities for seniors

You, as a senior, probably do low impact exercises everyday and just don't realize it. Many of you walk, sit in a chair and raise your legs a bit, make the bed. These may seem like some chores and they are You may do them everyday. If you live on your own property you may have a lawn to care for and you may have to pull weeds, this can be a low impact exercise. If you live in an apartment complex that has landscape, help the gardener and pull some weeds.
When you have a senior citizen center near by, you should probably check it out. Many have classes for senior exercises and they can be very low impact. You can sit in a chair and do leg lifts and you can use an elastic bands to resistance. Some have weight lifting exercises for the senior citizen that can be low impact, lifting a two pound weight while sitting can be beneficial for your arm muscles. If you can't raise your arms for whatever reason, or you can't raise the weights, just move your arms up and reach out.
Some facilities may have machines to use that are low impact. The Gazelle is a great one for low impact. You can walk as hard and high as you want, no pressure there. A good tread mill is low impact and you can set your own speed. After a heart procedure sometimes you will need some kind of low impact therapy.
