Know Your Medical Options As A Senior

Are you a senior now and don't know what health options you may have? Before making any decisions, check them out. There are many medical plans that are offered to you.

Some seniors don't know that they have the right to choose their doctors. As well, a doctor is supposed to let all patients know what is going on with them health wise. If a patient ask their doctor a question or has any doubt about the answer or treatment that they can go see another doctor. Seniors think and feel like if a doctor tells them something that they are supposed to believe it. Doctors forget that there is a law now that protects the patients. It is call the Patients Bill of Rights law.

Seniors have the right to ask as many questions as they want to when it comes to their health. It is their life, their body and their health. It doesn't matter if it is at the doctor's office or at the hospital. Just because the doctors and hospitals went to college that does not give them the right to make decisions about a patient without letting them know. If a patient asks to see their medical records, by law they are required to let them see it. If a senior citizen is unable to ask the questions and they have a power of attorney with them, the medical staff are required to answer the questions. If seniors are unable to live by themselves but still have their right mind and able to make decisions, they have the right to say whether they want to go into a retirement home or not.
