Tips for Preparing Fish

If you have never eaten fresh tuna, you don’t know what you are missing.  Here are some ideas that are sure to get you hooked on this flavorful and meaty fish.

-          Paint tuna with a fruity olive oil, and then grill.  Serve hot with garlic bread.

-          Cut tuna into meaty chunks and put on a skewer.  Then rub the chunks with Dijon mustard and grill.  Serve hot with a green salad.

-          Poach tuna with bay and rosemary.  Let it cool in the poaching liquid and serve chilled with a marinated vegetable salad.

Or, if you prefer Tuna, Water-Packed here are some ideas, but before you reach for that jar of mayonnaise, give these more “interesting” ways to prepare canned tuna a try.  They take no more time to prepare but make all the difference when it comes to flavor.

-          Prepare tuna salad as you normally do, but substitute a lemon vinaigrette for that dull old mayonnaise.

-          Toss canned tuna with marinated artichoke hearts and blanched button mushrooms.  Serve chilled on crisp romaine petals.

-          Make a plain omelet and fill with mild white cheese, scallions, and canned tuna.

Any variation to the same old tuna is worth a try.  Enjoy!!
